2 Peter 1:2-4 Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord, According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue: Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
1 JOHN 5:14-15 And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us: And if we know that he heareth us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.
Our faith in God is what enables us to be partakers of His divine nature. According to Hebrews 13:8 and Malachi 3:6 His divinity does not wax and wane so our belief that we are God’s children and that He will take care of us should not wax and wane. He is the same yesterday, today, and forever. 1 Chronicles 17:27 lets us know that when God blesses something, it is blessed forever.
To put off worry and anxiety we have to focus on our spiritual selves (the inner man) the power that operates in the spirit man. We cannot operate from the flesh. Romans 8:16 lets us know that to be spiritually minded is life and peace; to be carnally minded is death. Spiritual mindedness is an elevation of thought, focusing on the power of God. 1 Corinthians 2:5 tells us that our faith must stand in the power of God and not in the wisdom of mankind.
If we keep thinking 2+2=4 and leave God out of the equation, we will never see that God + X = infinity; where X is anything, even zero! The scripture found in Isaiah 55:9, Romans 11:33, Psalm 145:3, and Jeremiah 33:3 tell us that God’s ways and thoughts are higher than ours, His ways are past finding out, His greatness is unsearchable, and if we call to Him He will show us great and might things that we do not know. Isaiah 40:28 tells us, Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? there is no searching of his understanding.
In John 15:7 Jesus said if ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you. In Matthew 7:7-8 He said Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. Philippians 4:19 But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
So if we have a need, let us look to God, our Heavenly Father, with expectation according to Ephesians 3:20, which says, Now unto Him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us. Let us be like the three Hebrew boys when they were going to be thrown into the fiery furnace and say, even if He does not deliver, we know that He is able, and even if He does not, we will serve no other god (Daniel 3:1-18). We will remain dedicated believers, knowing that all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution (2Timothy 3:12), persecution indicating that we are targets of the enemy. We can stand like Paul during our trouble, and say as Paul did in 2 Timothy 1:12: For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.
Why worry? Follow the Word and trust God: Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life (Jude 21). Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you. (1Peter5:7) Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God (Philippians 4:6). Jesus said "Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid" (John 14:27).
Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy, to the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen. (Jude 24-25).
