THESE WALLS
Walls are smashed, broken down by faith in the Power of God. The walls that are obstacles that stand in the way of living as God intended. The walls of torment are built by fear, reliving the past sensations, paralyzed and unable to get up and walk away from the past.
Walls that are in our minds, but affect us to the point of being bound and unable to live as God intended. Walls that prevent having or fulfilling dreams. Walls that prevent giving and accepting love. These walls were built by past experiences: things said or done through hatred, abuse, and wickedness of various kinds.
But they are recognized as strongholds when our eyes are opened by God’s truth. And so we go to 2 Corinthians 10:3-5 (NIV): For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. And we see that these strongholds can be brought down.
The crumbled walls become STEPPING stones instead of STOPPING stones. We walk up the crumbled heap rather than fall backward or stand, lie, or crouch in fear. We rise to the place in our Father’s kingdom that he has prepared, predestined, and welcomed us to. We may indeed be like Joseph after his brothers sold him into slavery; he rose to become a Prince in the same place of slavery (Gen 37-47). We rise to experience the fruit of His kingdom: peace, joy, righteousness. In Him we live, move, and experience life. We experience the newness of life with the renewal of our minds; that mind which is in Christ Jesus. Let go, forgive, love despite being wrong, but do not remain a prisoner of past hurts. It takes the Word of God, which is Spirit and Life, to give us new life and bring freedom.
Christ died so we can have new life. We are not outcasts. We are His Children, and he loves us dearly. We will have trouble, be pressed out of measure sometimes. But we are not bound and restricted by the scars of our past or current trouble, but free to experience the fruits of righteousness through Him. No walls of reactions to traumatic experiences will restrict us if we pull the strongholds down.
We bring every thought into captivity and to the obedience of the Spirit of Christ within us. His Spirit gives us peace, joy, and love. We do not live day in and day out, intentionally hurting others and rejecting peace, love, and joy. We live and declare the goodness of God. Amen!
