THE FAITHFULNESS OF GOD

WHAT IS FAITHFULNESS

God’s faithfulness is His commitment to His promises, his covenant. He remembers His promises, and He honors His word. Isaiah 25:1 says Your counsels of old are faithfulness and truth.

HOW WE EXPERIENCE GOD’S FAITHFULNESS

We experience God’s faithfulness through our relationship with Him. In Him we live, move, and exist (Acts 17:28). He is our creator. He has provided a savior for us. He cares for us, protects us, clothes us, feeds us, and continually sustains us. He hears our prayers and answers us.

WHEN DO WE EXPERIENCE FAITHFULNESS

When we experience a movement of God, blessings from God, answered prayers, and even correction from God, we experience His faithfulness. Psalm 11:5 says Faithfulness is the belt of His waist. God’s faithfulness is expressed and experienced daily. The third chapter of Lamentations speaks of the hope and mercy we have in God. The twenty-third verse says Great is Your faithfulness.

If we consider all the works of God’s hand, His eternal love, His grace, and redemption, we can agree with the psalmist who wrote Psalm 89. This psalm declares that God’s faithfulness is established in heaven, it surrounds Him, and He will not allow it to fail. Even in afflictions, we can declare His faithfulness is good for us (Psalm 119:25), because he is righteous in His judgment and discipline. When we turn to Him from error and wrong choices, He turns to us and mercifully renews our relationships with Himself. His faithfulness remains throughout all generations. He is present and at work, whether we see His hand or not. He is in tune with us, aware of every turn in our path, every cloud and every ray of sun on the horizon, the fogginess, the sunshine, warmth, cold, sickness, health, faults, feelings, trials, and triumphs. He is not only present and aware, but in His faithfulness, He is working it all out for our good according to Romans 8:28.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank you for your faithfulness. We ask that you continue to help us recall your faithfulness and give You praise and glory, even in our trying times. Help us to continue to call on you, seek you, learn your ways, and walk in the path of righteousness. Help us to grow in You, deepen our relationship with You, and be faithful to You. This we pray in the mighty and majestic name of Jesus, Amen.
