Peace in Troubled Times
Psalm 80:14 Return, we beseech thee, O God of host: look down from heaven, and behold, and visit this vine.
Second Thessalonians 3:2-3 And that we may be delivered from unreasonable and wicked men; for all men have not faith. But the Lord is faithful, who shall stablish you, and keep you from evil.
Psalm 86:10, 11, 15-17 For thou art great and doest wondrous things: thou art God alone. Teach me thy way, O Lord; I will walk in thy truth: unite my heart to fear thy name. But thou, O Lord, art a God full of compassion, and gracious, long-suffering, and plenteous in mercy and truth. O turn unto me, and have mercy upon me; give thy strength unto thy servant, and save the son of thine handmaid. Show me a token for good; that they which hate me may see it, and be ashamed: because thou, Lord, hast holpen me, and comforted me.
Sometimes we need help from God alone. We need His strength, power, wisdom, and favor to get through some things.
The verse above tells us that God is God alone, and First Corinthians 1:9 tells us God is faithful. Psalm 86 also tells us that God is full of compassion, gracious, long-suffering, and merciful. First Corinthians 1:9 tells us that God is also faithful. 1 Corinthians 2:5 tells us that our faith should stand in the power of God.
If we can make our request known to God (pray) and have faith in His power, we can activate the answer God has for us because of His compassion, grace, mercy, and long-suffering toward us. We will have trouble in this life, but the enemy does not have the final victory if we stay with God. Psalm 41:11 tells us that we know God has favor toward us because the enemy does not triumph over us. In His favor is life, according to Psalm 30:5. Psalm 42:5 says I will yet praise Him, for the help of His countenance.
When we seek God and have faith in His word, we can call on Him, expect Him to help and comfort us, and praise Him for His favor and countenance. We can have peace during troubled times because we trust in Him who is our source as long as we remain in Him, the True Vine. Amen!
