GOD’S SOVEREIGN POWER AT WORK IN US
Recently, I found that I had a need that I could not meet for myself. I turned to God, praying that He would meet the natural need. I found that it was not just a natural need for Him to meet, but a spiritual need also. As a result of considering my need and how it would be supplied, I could have titled this writing “Who and What”. The ultimate response would be my need, God’s supply. My need, God’s power. My faith, God’s work. You see, as I thought and prayed about what I needed and my reliance on God to provide, certain scriptures began to come to my mind. As I searched the scriptures, more and more scriptures began to come to mind, and I studied the scriptures. I did not look for scriptures that would tell me that God simply gives me things. Life is more valuable than the things that I could possess. Salvation, peace, and spiritual growth give and continue to add value to my life; I find those in, through, and from God, who is the author of my faith and peace, creator of my life, and the one who sustains me.
These scriptures encouraged me so much! They did not just encourage me to trust God to meet my natural needs. They reminded me of His love for me, His desire for me to be saved, and most of all, they reminded me of His power that is at work in my life. His power that saves, sustains, holds me up, and brings me forward on my journey through my natural and spiritual life. These scriptures remind me of God’s faithfulness despite my faults and failures. They remind me of His sovereignty, honor, power, light, goodness, and wisdom that are so far beyond anything that I can imagine. The scriptures remind me that He wants me to have faith in him, and yes, He uses His power for me, for my good. That’s the kind of Father He is; his lovingkindness is better than life.
I have included the scriptures that I reviewed, rejoiced in, and my heavy load was lightened by.
Focus: God’s Power. Only He possesses this kind of power; He is sovereign, and he works through and for those who follow Him. His wisdom, knowledge, power, and ways are untraceable, unsearchable, unforeseeable, unpredictable, and unmatchable.

Focus: God’s Faithfulness. I am not perfect, but by grace I stand in Him and on His promises. I am reminded to focus not on not someone's judgment of me, not my faults or failures, not on what I see, not on who I am as a human being in my natural status, but on the love and power of my sovereign God who loves me, whose child I am, and whose word I believe.
