COUNSEL AND COVERING

There will be times in our lives that we are not sure of what to do. There are times we need help. We may need to make decisions about our lives or our loved ones. We may believe that we need to look outside of where we normally go for solutions to problems.

We should be careful who we seek counsel and covering from; careful of where we place our trust when we seek comfort, rest, inspiration, answers, or protection. The following scriptures are meant to encourage us to trust in the counsel and covering of the Lord.

Isaiah 30:1-Woe to the rebellious children, saith the Lord, that take counsel, but not of me; and that cover with a covering but not of my spirit, that they may add sin to sin: That walk to go down into Egypt, and have not asked at my mouth; to strengthen themselves in the strength of Pharaoh, and to trust in the shadow of Egypt! Therefore shall the strength of Pharaoh be your shame, and the trust in the shadow of Egypt your confusion.

Jeremiah 17:5-9 … Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the Lord…Blessed is the man that trusteth In the Lord, and whose hope the Lord is. For he shall be as a tree planted by the waters…

Proverbs 3:26 For the Lord shall be thy confidence, and shall keep thy foot from being taken.

Deuteronomy 33:12 …The beloved of the Lord shall dwell in safety by him; and the Lord shall cover him all the day long…

Psalm 91:4 He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust...

Isaiah 61:10 …he hath clothed me with the garments of salvation, he hath covered me with the robe of righteousness…

Proverbs 29: 25 the fear of man bringeth A snare: but whoso putteth his trust in the Lord shall be safe.

Proverbs 19: 21 there are many devices in a man's heart; Nevertheless the council of the Lord, that shall stand.

God does not want us to put our trust in mere physical objects or people which are known for their strength or may even be known to win battles. God wants our faith to be in Him as His covering protects our minds, bodies and our souls. It is safe to put our trust in Him. Pour out your heart to Him in prayer and supplication with thanksgiving (Philippians 4:6) He is omniscient and knows how everything will turn out. He is omnipotent and can do anything that we need him to do.

Be encouraged to follow Christ whole-heartedly and determined never to turn back. Trust in the Lord, He is a refuge for us (Psalm 62:8). This is His word, and He cannot lie. Believe it and be blessed! Amen!
